MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions

Last Friday's MLB parlay picks resulted in a successful night, with four out of the six recommended bets hitting. Sean Manaea put forth a strong effort, striking out six batters, but he may have been left in the game a bit too long, allowing the tying runs to score in the seventh inning and pushing Cincinnati past its 3.5-run team total. Fortunately, Mark Vientos secured the win for us in extra innings with his second home run of the night.

The pitching duel between Kevin Gausman and Max Fried ended comfortably under the total, with Fried exceeding his outs prop, while Gausman allowed just enough hits to go over his 5.5 hits prop, which we would have preferred to avoid. Winning money from BetMGM Sportsbook is always enjoyable, so let’s aim for another successful night with a fresh set of parlay picks—SLAM YOUR MAN!!

MLB Same Game Parlay Selections, Odds & Forecasts

It was a case of so near yet so far with last Sunday’s MLB parlay picks, as none of the three home run candidates managed to go deep. While Jazz Chisholm and Juan Soto delivered solid singles and doubles, unfortunately, nothing made it to the outfield seats. On the bright side, the Yankees did surpass their 5.5-run team total in their surprising 14-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

San Diego managed to edge out the Rays 4-3, but neither Dylan Cease nor Ryan Pepiot came close to hitting their respective strikeout and hits allowed props at BetMGM Sportsbook. Even though the NFL will capture most bettors' attention on Sunday, there are still profits to be made on the diamond. Let’s capitalize on that and finish the week strong!

Step into the year 2024, where the anticipation of Spring Training looms just a few weeks ahead.

However, despite the excitement, a group of prominent free agents still find themselves without contracts. Among them are recognizable names in the world of baseball, such as Cody Bellinger, Matt Chapman, and Teoscar Hernández, all skilled hitters seeking a team to call their own. Additionally, the sought-after reliever Josh Hader is also on the lookout for a fresh start in the baseball realm.

The winter season has been eventful for the Dodgers, as they've captured attention with their acquisitions of Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Meanwhile, the Phillies, D-backs, Giants, Reds, and Royals have made significant financial investments by spending over $100 million on free agents. On the other hand, thirteen teams have been relatively conservative in their spending, with amounts under $15 million in free agency. Notably, the Yankees, Cubs, Marlins, and Rockies have refrained from spending any money so far, although the Yankees did make a notable trade by acquiring Juan Soto.

MLB rumors

As we enter a new year, there is still a plethora of trades and free agent signings yet to unfold before the start of spring training. Surprisingly, only 18 out of the top 50 free agents have secured deals, with a mere four of the top 10 finding new teams. Here, on the last day of 2023, we bring you the most recent rumors circulating in the baseball world.

According to a report from the Boston Globe, the Red Sox are not slowing down on their roster moves even after the recent signings of Lucas Giolito and the trade involving Chris Sale. The team is actively considering trades involving their talented young outfielders, which may include Wilyer Abreu, Jarren Duran, and Ceddanne Rafaela. Craig Breslow, the chief baseball officer, has emphasized that the team's priority remains on bolstering their pitching staff, following the Sale trade that took place on Saturday.

In an interview with the Boston Globe, Craig Breslow expressed confidence in the ample time remaining in the offseason. He reiterated that starting pitching remains the team's highest priority when it comes to acquiring new talent. Breslow emphasized their commitment to thoroughly exploring both the free agency market and potential trade opportunities to find the best starting pitchers available.

According to a report from MassLive.com, the Red Sox have informed at least one free agent that they would need to reduce their payroll in order to pursue him with the desired intensity. Currently, including arbitration projections, the team's payroll for the 2024 season stands at $172 million, as stated by Cot's ,Baseball Contracts. If this remains the case, it would mark the Red Sox's lowest Opening Day payroll for a full 162-game season since 2014.

As for the rotation, Lucas Giolito and Brayan Bello are the only confirmed members for the Red Sox in the upcoming 2024 season. Kutter Crawford, Tanner Houck, Nick Pivetta, and Garrett Whitlock are also in contention for rotation spots, although they all possess experience in the bullpen. Interestingly, these players have often performed better in relief roles than as starters. In the outfield, the current roster includes Tyler O'Neill, Rob Refsnyder, Masataka Yoshida, and the aforementioned young players.

Former baseball player Frank Thomas criticized Fox News for their "irresponsible" mistake in reporting his death.

Frank Thomas criticized Fox News for their "irresponsible" mistake in including him in an "in memoriam" segment, falsely reporting his death. He expressed his disappointment and surprise at the network's error, particularly considering his past work as an analyst for Fox Sports.

Thomas called out his ex-employer, Fox News, for their lack of accuracy and professionalism in this matter. He took to social media to address the issue and clarify that he is alive and well. Fox News later issued a correction and apologized for the misinformation.

Milwaukee Brewers' stadium

In Wisconsin, there is currently a hearing taking place to discuss a plan worth $614 million. The purpose of this plan is to secure funding for the repair and maintenance of the Milwaukee Brewers' stadium.

The individual responsible for designing a proposal to provide the Milwaukee Brewers with over $614 million for stadium upgrades defended their plan on Thursday in front of a legislative committee. They assured the committee that the proposed deal would ensure the team remains in Milwaukee for future generations, all without the need for additional taxes

Republican State Representative Rob Brooks has introduced two bills that propose allocating public funds from the state, the city of Milwaukee, and Milwaukee County to the Milwaukee Brewers. During a public hearing held at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Brooks started by making a lighthearted comment, jokingly stating that he doesn't hold the panel responsible for the Brewers' recent loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He emphasized that the proposal does not involve implementing new taxes, but rather relies on utilizing income taxes from players' salaries as a source of funding. He cautioned that if the Milwaukee Brewers were to depart from Wisconsin, it would result in substantial revenue losses in income and sales taxes for the state, city, and county. This reduction in revenue could potentially lead to decreased state aid for municipalities throughout Wisconsin. While the team has not yet expressed any intention to relocate if it does not receive public assistance, the possibility of relocation remains if another city offers to cover the team's expenses.

The question is asking whether the Atlanta Braves have the most impressive first-inning offense in baseball history.

In baseball, on July 1st, a 20-year-old player named Eury Pérez was generating significant attention and was considered one of the most notable stories at the time. The young and talented right-handed pitcher for the Marlins was experiencing an exceptional period of success. His earned run average (ERA) of 1.34 was the lowest among any pitcher in their first nine career starts in the last 50 years. He had only given up one run in his previous six starts and had an impressive streak of 21 consecutive scoreless innings. However, his performance took a turn when he faced the Braves in Atlanta that afternoon.

As you are likely aware, the Braves' offense is incredibly strong. It is difficult to overstate just how impressive this group is, so we will once again delve into their performance today. As the Braves embark on their journey towards potentially winning their second World Series title in three years, let's specifically focus on their exceptional performance in the first inning this season. The Braves have achieved something truly historic with their ability to score runs right from the start of the game.

Throughout the regular season, the Braves managed to score an impressive 146 runs in the first inning. Despite some relatively average results in the final two months of the season, where five other teams scored more first-inning runs than Atlanta, this still stands as the highest number of runs scored by any team in any inning. In fact, it is the second-highest number of runs scored in the first inning during the Expansion Era (since 1961), according to data from the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Braves were able to score a run in the first inning in 65 of their games this season, which accounts for 40% of their total games. However, they frequently didn't settle for just one run. Instead, they often continued to score multiple runs, similar to what they did against Pérez. Throughout the season, the Braves managed to score at least four runs in the first inning on 14 occasions. This achievement is tied for the second-highest number of times a team has accomplished this in the Modern Era (since 1900), with only the 1950 Boston Red Sox surpassing them by doing it 16 times.

The San Diego Padres have made a significant announcement regarding Manny Machado.

According to a statement from the San Diego Padres, veteran third baseman Manny Machado underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair the extensor tendon in his right elbow. The procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The expected timeline for Machado's recovery is estimated to be between four and six months. If everything goes well, he could be ready in time for spring training, but if his recovery takes longer, he may return shortly after Opening Day. It is important to note that Machado may still need additional time to regain his form in case he misses spring training. This news doesn't come as a surprise, as Machado had previously mentioned that elbow surgery was on the horizon.

Machado now faces the possibility of starting the first season of his lucrative new contract in San Diego while being on the injured list. The Padres are already anticipated to reduce their payroll by approximately $50 million following a disappointing 82-80 season. With the added uncertainty surrounding their key third baseman, the team will have to find ways to compensate for Machado's absence and replace his offensive contributions during the initial portion of the season. Additionally, they will need to address the situations of pending free-agent stars Blake Snell and Josh Hader, either by re-signing them or finding suitable replacements. This means the Padres will be challenged to achieve more with a reduced budget and potentially without some of their key players.

Fortunately, it may be easier than anticipated to address the absence of Manny Machado. In the previous season, the Padres had to rely on depth options like Matthew Batten and Eguy Rosario when Machado was unavailable.

However, in 2024, the Padres are expected to have a strong group of infield options, even if they choose to keep Fernando Tatis Jr. in the outfield rather than moving him back to the infield. With Xander Bogaerts firmly established at shortstop and utility infielder Ha-Seong Kim capable of covering third base in Machado's absence, Jake Cronenworth could temporarily move back to second base, his natural position, after spending most of the 2023 season at first base. This would create an opportunity to acquire a new first baseman externally, consider a potential return for deadline acquisition Garrett Cooper, or even explore the option of using veteran slugger Matt Carpenter, who struggled in a limited number of plate appearances this year but holds a $5.5 million player option for the 2024 season.
